Claude Watermark Remover
Anthropic now watermarks Claude's text output — here's how to remove it
Claude models released on or after August 2, 2026 embed an invisible statistical watermark in generated text, and Anthropic is extending it to older models. These hidden patterns can flag your content as AI-written. This tool works on both layers: Quick Clean strips 34+ invisible Unicode characters — 100% in your browser, nothing uploaded; Deep Rewrite uses LLM rewriting to break statistical patterns (best-effort). Free, no account needed.
Line breaks, spaces, and tabs are formatting, not watermarks — we never count or remove them.
Deep Rewrite supports up to 8,000 characters

What Claude's Watermark Actually Is
In August 2026, Anthropic confirmed that Claude models released on or after August 2, 2026 embed a statistical watermark in their text output, introduced to meet the EU AI Act's transparency obligations. The method is Anthropic's own — despite frequent confusion, it is not Google's SynthID. Instead of inserting hidden characters, the model subtly biases which tokens it chooses, weaving a verifiable pattern into the word sequence itself. The text reads completely normally, and the pattern survives copy-paste.
That distinction decides which removal layer applies. Invisible Unicode characters — zero-width spaces, narrow no-break spaces, byte-order marks — are debris you can locate and delete, and Quick Clean does exactly that, locally in your browser. A statistical watermark is different: there is nothing to delete, because the signal is the wording itself. Weakening it means changing the wording, which is what Deep Rewrite does. Treat the result as best-effort — Anthropic's official detector is not public, so no tool can verify or promise a complete removal.
Statistical Watermark vs. Invisible Characters
An invisible-character watermark is a payload inside the string. Zero-width spaces, narrow no-break spaces, tag characters — each is a concrete code point you can count, highlight, and delete. Detection is deterministic: scan the text and every offending character shows up in a list. Removal is just as mechanical, and it is verifiable — run the scan again and the counter reads zero. Quick Clean does all of this locally in your browser, which is why it can honestly promise a complete result.
A statistical watermark carries no payload at all. The text contains only ordinary words; the signal lives in which words were chosen over their synonyms. Detecting it requires the watermark key and a statistical test over enough text, and removing it means breaking that pattern — paraphrasing until the original sequence of choices is gone. Deep Rewrite does this with an LLM, but the outcome is probabilistic: a thorough rewrite weakens the signal, and nobody outside Anthropic can measure by how much, because the official detector is not public.
This is why a serious Claude watermark remover needs both layers, and why we label them honestly. If your text trips an invisible-character scan, Quick Clean fixes it completely, verifiably, and for free. If the concern is Claude's statistical watermark, only a rewrite touches it — best-effort, never guaranteed. Any tool that promises to "delete" a statistical watermark is describing the wrong layer.
